In class discussion
This week's assignment will require a lot of time. Plan accordingly.
Writing Assignment
Deliverable: Publicly accessible URL to PDF of revised annotation
- Some of the annotation assignments were difficult to understand
- Remember, as a designer you are judged on everything you create, including annotations!
- The point of annotating our designs is to make our changes clear to the non-designer
- If you were given feedback from class on your annotations, redo your previous annotation assignment and resubmit it
Coding Assignment:
Deliverable: LiveWeave URL (Remember: always have TextEdit open for questions)
- Finish the following HTML/CSS tutorials
- Code this modified eblast from scratch using <div>s (not tables! so NO Photoshop). See the PDF version here for text and images (but not the design)
- Note: you can create your own version based on this design, as long as it remains a single column design
- As far as fonts go, only use Helvetica
Design Assignment
Deliverable: Publicly accessible URL to PDF of all designs
- We're going to create 3 versions of a second eblast for Genspace
- This is an eblast they recently sent out (PDF version here)
- First you'll need to spend time to understand the information, then you'll need to think about how to display it in the clearest way possible
- Remember:
- Think just as much about what information to emphasize as what to de-emphasize
- You can use the provided image for the eblast or you can find your own
- Remember, eblasts are 700px wide and can be of any height
